The Martial Art of Wellness
Volume 9 – October 2010
Welcome to this month’s BioNews. We must learn to free ourselves from the control that others exert over us. As we learn we become FREE, we become powerful. This pursuit of self defense in wellness, I call “The Martial Art of Wellness.” And as we practice we become Wellness Ninjas.
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
” The best and most efficient pharmacy is within your own system. “
THIS ISSUE’S TESTIMONIAL:
My lower back is better
“ My lower back is better (about 40% less pain & stiffness). The most surprising thing is that I started feeling better when I was taking only 3 capsules a day. Also, I stopped feeling sluggish in early afternoons because of my long standing heart bradycardia. Heartburns are much less bothersome now, better urination during days & nights, better sex performance. Life is beautiful. Would you be so kind to mail me another month’s supply & if it possible to place me on an automatic renewal. I share my personal experience with many people around. Hopefully, they don’t think I am getting senile. My best regards to Mikhail.
Truly yours, ”
THE MARTIAL ART OF WELLNESS ( Simply Raw )
So far I am sticking to my commitment to not bash the established systems, nor other people’s opinion? Anyway, there are so many doing it much better than I ever could: Mercola, Mike Adams, etc., and now Dr. Oz. Isn’t that cool? A few years back, Dr. Oz would have been fired from the ANMA; instead, we have a reputed physician speaking daily to millions of viewers about herbs and supplements… thank you Oprah!
Back to my mission to increase your arsenal in The Martial Art of Wellness. I This month, I want to remind you about this age old and basic principle of “eating lots of raw food.” Many of us go on trying it a while, then give up and fall back on cooked food. Eating raw is one of the best supplement that you can introduce in your life and don’t you forget it. To speak raw, I have invited Natasha Kyssa, a guru of the art of eating raw, to introduce us to her book “The SimplyRaw Living Foods Detox Manual.”
Detoxify for Optimum Health
“Detox” is fast becoming the latest buzz word and it’s no wonder. We are living in a polluted environment and our health is threatened by the many chemicals in our food, air and water. Toxins include poisons, heavy metals, pesticides, cleaning solvents and smog. These and many other substances are being absorbed into our bodies through contact with clothing, furniture, carpets, air, and the environment within which we live. Often the body cannot keep up with the large amount of toxins to which we are exposed. Our health then suffers.
Our bodies are naturally equipped to eliminate harmful substances through the liver, kidneys, lungs, intestines, skin and lymphatic system. However, as toxins accumulate throughout the body, the body can no longer keep up with the necessary elimination, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, aches and pains, brain fog, congestion and gastrointestinal problems. Long term exposure can weaken our system, increase our susceptibility to infection and eventually lead to chronic illness.
How toxic are we? How serious a problem is this? How widespread? “Polluted Children, Toxic Nation” is the first Canadian study to test for harmful chemicals in children’s bodies, and the results show that “Canadians young and old are polluted regardless of where they live, work, play or go to school.” – Environmental Defence (http://www.environmentaldefence.ca/toxicnation) To thrive in our environment and to reverse illness, our bodies need extra support through detoxification. Detoxification may refer to the cleansing of the kidneys, lungs, liver, blood or colon, since these are the organs involved in detoxification of toxins from the body. One eliminates processed and acid-forming foods so there is less stress on the digestive system, thereby allowing the body to focus its resources on healing.
When the body is cleansed, it becomes more efficient with digestion, assimilation and elimination. Detoxifying strengthens the immune system and gives your body greater energy. It also reduces inflammation and produces a slimmer body. Detoxifying is a vital part of any program designed to restore your body to optimum health and vitality, and can be one of the finest tools we have for our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. There are various detoxification programs available, depending on your individual needs. Some programs involve fasting on fresh juices, water, or lemon juice with water and cayenne, all helping to release toxins and allow the digestive system to rest. Other popular programs can include taking fiber or selected herbs for cleansing and strengthening specific organs such as the liver, gallbladder, kidneys or colon. Saunas, light exercise and yoga are also recommended to help sweat toxins out through the skin, our largest eliminative organ.
On the SimplyRaw Detox Program, participants detoxify through nutrition. The 4 week program is based entirely on fresh, easily digestible raw plant foods which not only detoxify the body but supply it with the nutrients necessary for optimum health. The program is unique in that it includes an ongoing email discussion list and tips to help with support – a key element to any detox program.
The improvement in health that people feel following a thorough detox program is simply amazing. I have seen many lives transformed after people have completed a 4 week detoxification – especially one using fresh alkaline foods as required in the SimplyRaw Detox Program. These foods not only cleanse the body but nourish the cells. The high fiber content helps with elimination, as well as binds with many toxins and cholesterol before being removed from the body.
Based on 25 years of experience with cleansing and living foods, I believe that such a program is crucial for both the treatment and prevention of illness and disease.
Don’t we all want to look and feel our very best?
