No more scratching!

My 4 year old son has had eczema since he was a baby. He always had stubborn patches of it on his legs and was constantly scratching them. When he was two, I started giving him small amounts of BAC (first the F2 formula and then the F3) mixed up with some applesauce. Over the course of a few weeks, I noticed that his eczema was completely gone. I thought it might be the BAC that was working, so I stopped giving it to him for a while and the eczema came right back. Then I went back to giving him the BAC and the eczema went away again.

Fast forward to a few months ago and my son had a large, deep stubborn patch of eczema on his leg. I had stopped buying the BAC because I thought it was too expensive and I still wasn’t convinced that it had been responsible for getting rid of the eczema. I thought maybe he just outgrew the condition. I was treating the eczema with steroid cream prescribed by his doctor, but the cream was having no effect at all. I took my son to the doctor and the doctor said that there was now irreversible scar tissue in the eczema and he prescribed a different steroid ointment. I filled the prescription, but didn’t use it. I thought I’d give the BAC one more try, so I ordered a small bottle of the F3 formula.

When it arrived, I started giving my son one capsule of F3 — opened up and mixed in with some applesauce — per day. After two days, there was a noticeable difference and after three days the eczema was gone! That patch of eczema had been on his leg for months, but after a week on the F3 I couldn’t even find where the eczema had been. There was no scar tissue whatsoever. And the rest of my son’s skin felt smooth and silky like a newborn baby’s.

This month I share with you “The Power of Algae”, the most important benefit of algae, other then its consumption by human or animal, and one that will amaze you. Did you know that some algae are likely the best, easiest, cleanest and most economical form of energy to tap into, better then oil, corn, natural gas, hydrogen, coal or wind, and even better then the sun?

Energy from algae would revolutionize our existing energy infrastructure and economics. Yet even though the use of algae for power may be our best solution for energy and for stopping global warming, it is ignored by the media and industries involved with energy production.

In order to make you “believers” in “The Power of Algae”, I summarize next three pieces taken from the existing body of research.

Powering Our Automotive Future with — Pond Scum?

September 28, 2008 – Even Bill Gates thinks the future of biofuels is not corn, or even cellulosic ethanol, but algae By David Biello.

Corn or the cellulose in everything from wood chips to crop stalks are often touted as the basis of the fuel of the future. But Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates is betting that algae will provide the answer to our future fuel needs.

He’s so sure, in fact, that last week he joined the Rockefeller family and London based Wellcome Trust to invest $100 million in a California start-up devoted to churning out biofuel from this tiny primitive plant.

San Diego based Sapphire Energy, which launched in May, plans to use the money to produce more than 10,000 barrels of so-called green crude (oil from algae that is chemically identical to fossil oil) in as little as three years.

Sapphire did not respond to repeated requests for comment on its technology. But company background materials note that it uses “photosynthetic microorganisms, such as algae, sunlight, carbon dioxide and non arable land.”

Adds the background paper: “The end product is not ethanol—and not biodiesel. The end product is, in fact, gasoline.”

Sapphire Energy is one of more than a dozen companies that have sprung up in recent years to harness algae’s power to make and stockpile oil. “Algae stores oil because it’s energy dense and [algae] want to use it for fuel” (similar to the way animals store energy reserves as fat), says Jonathan Wolfson, CEO of South San Francisco–based Solazyme, Inc., which produces its algal biofuel in the dark. “Algae is the best in the world at taking chemical energy and turning it into an actual chemical, but it’s going to take a long time to make it best at harvesting photons.”

Algae – like a breath mint for smokestacks By Mark Clayton, The Christian Science Monitor

BOSTON – Isaac Berzin is a big fan of algae. The tiny, single-celled plant, he says, could transform the world’s energy needs and cut global warming.

Overshadowed by a multi billion-dollar push into other “clean-coal” technologies, a handful of tiny companies are racing to create an even cleaner, greener process using the same slimy stuff that thrives in the world’s oceans.

Enter Dr. Berzin, a rocket scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. About three years ago, while working on an experiment for growing algae on the International Space Station, he came up with the idea for using it to clean up power-plant exhaust.

If he could find the right strain of algae, he figured he could turn the nation’s greenhouse-gas-belching power plants into clean-green generators with an attached algae farm next door. “This is a big idea,” Berzin says, “a really powerful idea.”

Algae: ‘The ultimate in renewable energy’

ANTHONY, Texas (CNN) — Texas may be best known for “Big Oil.” But the oil that could some day make a dent in the country’s use of fossil fuels is small. Microscopic, in fact: algae. Literally and figuratively, this is green fuel.

Plant physiologist Glen Kertz believes algae can some day be competitive as a source for biofuel.

“Algae is the ultimate in renewable energy,” Glen Kertz, president and CEO of Valcent Products, told CNN while conducting a tour of his algae greenhouse on the outskirts of El Paso.

Kertz, a plant physiologist and entrepreneur, holds about 20 patents. And he is psyched about the potential algae holds, both as an energy source and as a way to deal with global warming.

“We are a giant solar collecting system. We get the bulk of our energy from the sunshine,” said Kertz.

Algae are among the fastest growing plants in the world, and about 50 percent of their weight is oil. That lipid oil can be used to make biodiesel for cars, trucks, and airplanes. Watch how pond scum can be turned into fuel »

Most people know algae as “pond scum.” And until recently, most energy research and development projects used ponds to grow it.

But instead of ponds, Valcent uses a closed, vertical system, growing the algae in long rows of moving plastic bags. The patented system is called Vertigro, a joint venture with Canadian alternative energy company Global Green Solutions. The companies have invested about $5 million in the Texas facility.

“A pond has a limited amount of surface area for solar absorption,” said Kertz.

“By going vertical, you can get a lot more surface area to expose cells to the sunlight. It keeps the algae hanging in the sunlight just long enough to pick up the solar energy they need to produce, to go through photosynthesis,” he said.

Kertz said he can produce about 100,000 gallons of algae oil a year per acre, compared to about 30 gallons per acre from corn; 50 gallons from soybeans.

Using algae as an alternative fuel is not a new idea. The U.S. Department of Energy studied it for about 18 years, from 1978 to 1996. But according to Al Darzins of the DOE’s National Renewable Energy Lab, in 1996 the feds decided that algae oil could never compete economically with fossil fuels.

I was reading the list of nutrients described in these pages. How many capsules does that nutrient list represent?

Good question. One capsule of BAC no matter its size will contain more then 5,000 known nutrients and some nutrients that are either unknown and/or undetectable at the microscopic level.

The blending of several micro-algae accounts for the richness of BAC; for example a plain spirulina algae may contains upwards of 2,000 nutrients taking into account its enzymes; this same spirulina may contains 50 or 60 trace elements, etc. Yet another algae may contains another 20 different trace elements, etc. When blending the four specific algae selected in BAC, the nutrients adds up to more then 5,000.

The amounts or weight of those of the RDI nutrients found in BAC are usually much less then per RDI. Its important to understand that the concept of BAC is not that of meeting the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) amounts suggested by the National Health and Medical Research group. The concept of using BAC in your nutrition is one of nourishing the brain. BAC is brain food! The brain never needs mega-doses as is the case with many supplements, the brain needs quality, not quantity. BAC is the culmination of efficiency as a cellular food; efficiency of nutritionally reaching and influencing the cells of the all important brain axis thalamus-hypothalamus-pituitary which is responsible for homeostasis and the regulation of all metabolisms of health. This efficiency is achieved due to the completeness, the balance and the synergy of the nutrients in BAC, and due to the individual properties of many of its nutrients to easily traverse the layers of mal-assimilation such as deficiency of digestive enzymes, and those of protection such as the blood brain and blood iris barriers.

In each capsule of BAC there are;

  • all known minerals and/or trace elements (114+);
  • all known essential (EFA) and non essential amino acids;
  • vitamins A, B-complex, C, D, E, K;
  • hundreds of carotenoids and pigments; blue, green, orange, red, and the spectrum in between;
  • Omega-3, Omega-6, Omega-9, GLAs (Gamma-Linolenic Acids), ALAs (Alpha-Linolenic Acids), DGLA (Dihomogamma-Linolenic Acid), DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and other fatty acids;
  • dozen of saccharides (mono and poly);
  • extraordinary rich in chlorophills;
  • thousands of enzymes which make up for the most nutrients;
  • so far that makes up thousands of known nutrients, and microalgae are the source of hundreds of un-named and undiscovered micro-nutrients.
