More Water = Less Disease

The Martial Art of Wellness
Volume 9 – June 2010

(Archive of Previous BioNews)

Welcome to this month’s BioNews.  We must learn to free ourselves from the control that others exert over us. As we learn we become FREE, we become powerful.  This pursuit of self defense in wellness, I call “The Martial Art of Wellness.” And as we practice we become Wellness Ninjas.

“Health is the proper relationship between the microcosm, which is man, and the macrocosm, which is the universe. Disease is a disruption of this relationship.” “

– Dr. Yeshe Donden, physician to the Dalai Lama

My stress level is down

I am so grateful to have the BAC. My stress level is down and I know I would not be handling life’s challenges as well without it. What a miracle it has been in my life! I now have my husband taking 1 capsule of F2 in the AM and one of F3 at lunch and dinner. He was resistant at first but when he ran out he noticed a difference after just a couple of days. Now he is a believer. I love it!

THE MARTIAL ART OF WELLNESS ( More Water = Less Disease )

In the last two months I introduced Energy Medicine and energy devices as wellness tools. This month I want to go back to basic and talk about WATER. In standard biology, there are six major classes of nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, minerals, protein, vitamins, and water. For a healthier list, I include the air we breathe, and the light of day. It is so incredible to me that so many people take one or several pharmaceutical drugs and/or supplements, and yet they do not drink enough water or know how to breathe properly. Did you know that without air to breathe you would not survive a couple of minutes… we will talk about “air” as the first food in a later article. But this month we talk WATER. Did you know that you could live in the desert for weeks (maybe 40 days…) without food as long as you had water, and barely one day without water? Read next about water from Krystal Grey.

More Water = Less Disease
Excerpt from “Eat and Be Well”, the extraordinary new book by Krystal L. Grey, C.C.N.

If there were only two things you needed to do to get and stay healthy (of course there are many more) I would tell you to increase your water and fiber intake. These two things alone will make a big difference in your state of health. Keep in mind that in the health equation one half is detoxification and the other half is in balancing the immune system. Water is the essential detoxifier. An increase of only five glasses a day may cut the risk of colon cancer by 45 percent, bladder cancer by 50 percent and breast cancer by 79 percent. Diseases such as cancer can only develop in an acidic environment and dehydration supplies that environment. Many of us live on the edge of acidity – which is a health risk – but the more water we drink the more balanced our pH will be.

Why should water be your bevrage of choice?

Are you are someone who believes coffee, tea, soda and fruit juices are all you need to get your daily water requirements? Have you proudly stated for years that you never drink water because you don’t like it? Let me encourage you to read the book “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water” You are not sick, you are thirsty! F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. He shares how water can help in the prevention and possible reversal of illness and disease and that “Water is the cheapest form of medicine to a dehydrated body”.

Water Facts

Almost 75% of our body is water. A man’s body is 60-65% water. A woman’s is 50-60% water. The human brain is about 95% water and a mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Did you know: Water has zero calories and contains zero sugar – a good drink of water can reduce hunger and facilitate weight loss? Water helps you’re body metabolizes stored fats, maintain proper muscle tone, and helps rid it of wastes. Even mild dehydration can slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%!

Inadequate water consumption may contribute to excess body fat, poor muscle tone, digestive problems, and poor functioning of many organs, including the brain, joint and muscle soreness and water retention.

You lose 2.5 to 3 quarts of water per day through normal elimination, sweating and breathing. If you exercise or live in a humid climate, you may lose another quart.

Did you know: that consuming plenty of pure clean water could slow the aging process? This alone should entice you to grab a glass of water right now!

How much water should I drink?

You’re body weight divided in ½ in ounces daily and an additional eight ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise. When you are traveling on an airplane drink eight ounces every hour you are on board the plane. I know some of you are thinking, that’s a lot of water – I’ll be drowning in it! It’s really not hard to drink all you need if you try these suggestions:

  • Each morning fill a container with the amount of water you will need for the day and be sure the container is empty before you retire.
  • Start your day with a glass or two as soon as you wake up.
  • Drink a glass or two half hours before meals.
  • Take water along in the car and drink it at stoplights.
  • Keep water on your desk at work (but don’t just let it set there)

What is the best water?

Not all water is good for you. There are many kinds of water on the market these days. There’s tap water, bottled water, flavored water, and filtered water.

Tap water should not be consumed. The way tap water is processed in most municipalities leaves it full of chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride and tastes like you are drinking from a swimming pool. If the water looks, smells and tastes bad it’s bad. Drinking water should make you want more not make you wince at every gulp.

Bottled water may help you to increase your water consumption but at the same time you increase your body’s intake of the harmful chemicals that leach into the water from the plastic. Reusing the bottles accelerates the leaching process. More chemicals leach into a beverage from a reused plastic bottle than from a new bottle! Better to refill a glass bottle with pure water than a plastic one.

Flavored waters are increasing in popularity, and their labels list water, 100 percent natural fruit flavors, and zero calories – but most have artificial sweeteners like diet soft drinks, which are poison to the body. Some flavored waters are also carbonated. I do not recommend carbonated drinks of any kind because it acidifies your body, setting you up for all kinds of disease. A suggestion would be if you rave strawberry flavored water, would be to slice a real strawberry into a glass of water. There’s nothing like the real thing. Cucumber water is refreshing as is lemon and lime which can be placed in your water.

Soft drinks are not a water alternative! They are not soft but hard on your body. The excess sugar and phosphates cause calcium loss, and the sugar turns to fat and depletes your body of B vitamins. Sugar (in these drinks or anything else) will depress your immune system by lowering white blood cell activity. These drinks will change your pH balance – acidifying our body – promoting aging and free radical damage. Did you know that if you put a tooth in a cup of cola, that tooth will completely dissolve in 10 days! Do you want that kind of acid working its way through your body? You need to drink more than 32 glasses of pure water to undo the dangerous effects of one soft drink! Diet soft drinks aren’t any better – actually they are worse. The artificial sweeteners in diet drinks and other foods are highly toxic. It has been found that anytime those sweeteners get above 86 degrees – and your body temperature is normally 10 degrees hotter than that – they break down into three poisonous substances: 1) Methanol (methyl alcohol); toxic levels of that cause blindness, 2) Formic acid; which is what poisonous insects inject into you, 3) Formaldehyde which is cancer causing.

Filtered water is recommended. There are many filtering systems: carbon filter, distilled, reverse osmosis, and other. The Berkey Water Purifier system is a very good filter and is suggested.

Here’s to your health,

Just remember water is the cheapest form of medicine for a dehydrated body!
